ADVENTURE, EXPLORE, EXPERIENCE SAFARIS

These safari options tick all three of our ‘ADVENTURE’, ‘EXPLORE’ ‘EXPEREINCE’ boxes! Great for first time visitors to Zimbabwe, those who have time constraints and want to experience as much as possible in a few days, as well as those who enjoy a more active safari. They’re also perfect for those looking for something a little different from the run of the mill ‘Big 5’ safari.

8 DAY HORSEBACK SAFARIS

The word ‘safari’ is Swahili for ‘journey’ or ‘trek’ and in modern English means a trip overland, usually to experience Africa and its vast array of wildlife. What better way to experience the true Zimbabwean bush, than on horseback, how the first explorers to the ‘Dark Continent’ would have seen it! Intermediate and experienced riders will enjoy getting up close to various different plains game on a 32,000 acre private Wildlife Estate, riding amongst herds of Giraffe, Zebra, Sable and Blue Wildebeest is a regular occurrence during an 8 day safari with one of Zimbabwe’s top horseback and safari guides. A privileged experience is sightings of the endangered White Rhino in the Matobo National Park, where riders will spend a few days of the same safari. Matobo National Park is also rich in natural and cultural history, so this safari option ticks all our boxes of ‘Adventure’, ‘Explore’, ‘Experience’. A big 5 safari option is also available as an add on to a plains game ride.

MATOBO HILLS WHITE RHINO EXPERIENCE

One of the few places in the world where the Southern White Rhino still exists in the wild is the Matobo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, only 30km from the city of Bulawayo. The close proximity of the National Park means day excursions from Bulawayo are feasible and allows one to experience the different attractions this 424 square kilometer has to offer. One of the most special of these attractions is approaching the White Rhino on foot with an experienced Professional Guide, a definite ‘bucket list’ activity! During your day’s trip you will also have the chance to visit sites of the Bushman or San Rock Art and learn about the history of this race of people, and how they are part of the history of humans as a whole. The site of Cecil John Rhodes’ Grave is a must for scenery lovers and is an ideal spot to watch the Zimbabwean sun go down behind the granite hills. Whether you choose this option as a day trip, or have enough time to explore this Park over a couple of days, we highly recommend it as a complete ‘Adventure’, ‘Explore’, ‘Experience’.

VICTORIA FALLS EPIC

You’ve got to spend at least 3 nights in the iconic town of Victoria Falls, to experience all this resort has to offer! All aspects of the safari experience can be found here, from adrenaline activities like bungee jumping to a relaxed sundowner cruise, interactive game drives where you get to cook your own traditional lunch, to an ‘activity first’ for Zimbabwe in the Tribal Trap Escape Rooms, not forgetting the majestic ‘Mosi oa Tunya’ themselves. There is no shortage of luxury and budget accommodation, but we have our favourites to recommend to you. A Vic Falls visit is a great add-on to the end of your trip as the new International Airport makes it easy to link to your destination.
